Layout for Prima’s January BAP

IMG_1134The last few years my work has evolved from traditional scrapbooking to more mixed media art.  I’ve always loved Prima Marketing for their gorgeous floral embellies, but lately the brand has really expanded into some of my favorite tools: dies, pastes, stencils, and inks.  I always play along with their monthly challenge (Build a Page and Prima Product Picks) and I was really impressed with Jennifer Snyder’s sketch this month.

Gorgeous, right?  I flipped the sketch so my picture was on the right side of the page.  I started with a paper from the Prima Ledger Pad.  I picked it up off Amazon a while back and it’s filled with an assortment of ledger papers in gorgeous neutral shades that work with so many projects, not too many people know they even have this but I highly recommend.  The other papers I used are from a 6×6 Cigar Box Secrets paper pack. I used some white texture paste and a Prima stencil for the background paper, then inked around the border with chalk ink. I like how the chalk ink lends a certain airiness to the layout.  The doily and leaves were cut from Prima dies in my Sizzix and (the doily) is sprayed with Antique Gold ink.  The wooden embellies are from the Epiphany line.  One of the things I like most about the company’s products are their ability to mix and match between the product lines, very versatile and budget friendly. I’ve included some close ups below.  Thanks for looking!
